Numbers almost halved on the previous sale as 1,300 head were yarded. Although quality remained very mixed, there was some improvement as fewer drought conditioned lines were penned. There were greater numbers of 3 and 4 fat score beef cows this week, only a handful of supplementary fed yearling lines about. Feeder orders strengthened and prices lifted on young cattle. Heavy beef cows eased in price. The vealers made to 297c/kg. The B muscled supplementary fed yearling steers reached 301.6c/kg. Light and medium weighted feeder steers made from 257c to 308c/kg. The C muscled yearling heifers to the trade reached 303.2c, with the bulk of the heifers being in the D3 category and making from 220c to 260c/kg. The 400-500kg C4 steers made to 276c, while the feeder steer portion reached 297c/kg. The 500-600kg steers made to 268c/kg. The heavy beef cows 3 and 4 score made from 178c to 205c, to average 188c/kg. The bulls made to 235c/kg.
