Numbers fell this week with lambs showing the biggest decrease. Lamb quality was mixed with both well presented finished lambs and plainer drier types on offer. There was less weight yarded and the usual buyers were present and competing in a firm to easier market.
Light new season lambs eased $2 to sell from $109 to $118/head. Trade weights were $2 to $4 easier with prices ranging from $118 to $153/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs held firm with heavy lambs selling from $139 to $164/head. Extra heavy weights sold from $151 to $171/head. Carcase prices averaged from 596c to 622c/kg. Old trade weight lambs held firm to sell from $119 to $139/head. Heavy lambs received from $140 to $146/head and extra heavies sold from $146 to $205/head.
Mutton numbers were made up of mostly Merinos with a large percentage of the offering being shorn. Quality was very mixed though there were some good lines of heavy sheep offered. Merino ewes sold from $87 to $119/head. Crossbreds ranged from $$86 to $123 and Merino wethers received $92 to $126/head.
