Numbers fell slightly this sale with lambs showing the decrease. Lamb quality was similar to that of previous sale with both well finished and plainer lambs penned. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were well supplied. There were 7,350 new season lambs penned with most well presented and well finished. The usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market.
Trade weight new season lambs sold from $129 to $148 with heavy weights receiving from $142 to $161/head. Light old lambs were $9 easier to range from $100 to $108/head. Trade weights were back $10 with prices ranging from $104 to $133/head. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs sold $10 to $15/head cheaper. Heavy lambs ranged from $128 to $147 and extra heavy weights received from $142 to $192/head. Carcase prices averaged from 522c to 556c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers remained similar and quality was very mixed. Prices eased from $5 to $8 with Merino ewes selling from $84 to $131/head. Crossbreds sold from $85 to $138 and Dorper ewes received from $75 to $113/head. Merino wethers ranged in price from $90 to $133/head.
