Numbers dropped sharply this sale with both lamb and mutton showing the decrease. Lamb quality was very mixed with a large percentage of drier lambs penned though there was still some well finished pens on offer. Not all the usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market. There was 4050 new season lambs penned and prices slipped $10 to $20/head. Trade weights to 24kg sold from $172 to $216 with heavy lambs received from $198 to $233/head. Carcase prices averaged from 782c to 828c/kg cwt. Restockers continue to be active paying up to $177/head for store types. Old lambs were also $15/head easier. Trade weights sold from $188 to $203 with heavies ranging from $200 to $267/head. Mutton quality was very mixed and prices dropped $15 to $20/head and more in places. Merino ewes sold from $123 to $188 with crossbreds reaching $172/head. Merino wethers sold to $192/head.
