Total Yarding – 891Hd

 

A considerable increase in numbers compared to the previous sale before Easter, for a total yarding of 891 good quality cattle. Yearling steers
made up half of the offering, along with 200 yearling heifers. There were some good runs of grown steers and heifers and 70 cows. The
market was very strong.
Yearling steers to the trade reached 480c and medium weight yearling heifers to processors also reached 480c to average 456c/kg. There was
strong competition for feeder cattle. Medium weight feeder steers gained 5c, selling from 435c to 498c, and those over 400kg made from 410c
to 470c/kg. Heifers to feed ranged from 420c to 463c/kg. Lightweight weaner steers returning to the paddock were much dearer, selling from
532c to 764c and the heifer portion topped at 720c/kg.
The heavy grown steer price was unchanged, making from 300c to 384c/kg with grown heifers selling from 300c to 387c/kg. Heavy 3 and 4
score cows topped at 312c, to average 302c/kg. The best heavy weight bull made 290c/kg.
