Forbes Sheep Sale Market Report

31/03/2020

Total Yarding – 9,920hd      Lambs – 8,220      Sheep – 1,700

General rain in the drawing area saw numbers drop sharply with both lamb and mutton affected. Most of the usual buyers were present and
competing in a dearer market that was driven by numbers available.
A limited supply of trade lambs saw prices lift $8 to $10 to receive from $190 to $215/head. Heavy lambs were also $8 to $10 dearer with
heavy lambs over 26kg selling from $215 to a top of $255/head.
Mutton numbers were very limited and quality was also very mixed. Prices were similar to that of the previous sale and continue to be strong.
Heavy Merinos ewes sold to a top of $200 with heavy crossbreds reaching $206/head.
