Numbers increased slightly this sale with lambs showing the increase. Lamb quality was mixed with good numbers of finished lambs available
along with the few plainer types. Heavy and extra heavyweight lambs were well supplied. Most of the usual buyers were present and
competing in a dearer market.
There was 7,100 new season lambs penned and quality was good with most fresh and well finished. Prices were firm to $3 better with trade
and heavy weights selling from $158 to $176/head. Carcase prices averaged from 685c to 732c/kg cwt. Old trade weight lambs lifted $5 to $6
to sell from $138 to $152/head. Heavy weights lambs up to 26kg were $4 to $5 better to receive from $144 to $169/head. Extra heavy weight
export lambs were $3 to $7 better to sell from $162 to $199/head. Carcase prices averaged from 557c to 658c/kg cwt.
Mutton quality continues to be very mixed though there were some good lines of heavy mutton offered. Merino ewes sold from $123 to
$177/head. Crossbred ewes ranged in price from $134 to $178 with wethers reaching $197/head.
