Lamb numbers fell and included around 6,700 new season lambs. The quality still remains good but there was an increase in lambs starting to
dry off. Trade and heavy lambs were again best supplied and light weights were very limited. There were several very good drafts of heavy
shorn Merino lambs. The market sold to a similar trend with the exception of the extra heavy lambs which were slightly cheaper.
New season medium and heavy trade weights sold from $163 to $172/head averaging around 770c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs ranged from $166 to
$195/head or 745c/kg on average. Extra heavy lambs sold between $186 and $238 easing $6 to $8/head. Old trade lambs were firm selling to
$168/head. Heavy lambs were back $2 to $5 and sold from $167 to $198 and extra heavy lambs reached $210/head. Trade Merino lambs
were firm $155 to $180/head. Heavy Merino lambs $183 to $205/head.
Mutton numbers halved and the quality was good with most sheep having plenty of cover. Prices jumped in the smaller yarding by up to $15
to $20/head. Medium weight ewes $149 to $160/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $194 to $230 and Merinos sold to $236/head.
