Numbers lifted this sale, with mutton showing the increase. Lamb quality was similar to that of previous sales, with a good
offering of finished lambs fed on supplementary feed, along with some plainer types. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs made
up the majority of the offering. The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
1,500 new season lambs were penned, selling from $149 to $190/head. Light old lambs averaged $121/head. Trade weight
lambs were $6 to $8 dearer, receiving from $140 to $190/head. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were $8 to $13 dearer and
heavy lambs, weighing 22-26kg, sold from $181 to $224/head. Extra heavy weight lambs received from $223 to a new centre
record of $181/head. Carcase prices averaged from 734c to 817c/kg cwt. Merino lambs received from $135 to $226/head.
Mutton numbers increased and quality remained mixed. Merinos made up the majority of the offering and prices were strong.
Merino ewes sold from $107 to $155/head. Crossbred ewes received from $107 to $203 and Dorper ewes made from $110 to
$150/head. Merino wethers sold from $109 to $160/head.
