Numbers jumped this sale with lambs showing the biggest increase. Lamb quality continues to be mixed with good lines of grain
fed finished lambs available along with the plainer types. Heavy and extra heavy weights made up the majority of the yarding.
The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
There was 4,650 new season lambs penned and quality was fair. There was mostly trade weights offered and these sold from
$164 to $234/head. Old trade weight lambs lifted $8 to $14 with prices ranging from $140 to $215/head. Heavy and extra heavy
weight lambs were $15 dearer with 23-26kg lots selling from $198 to $245 and those over 26kg receiving from $240 to
$$280/head. Carcase prices averaged from 822c to 876c/kg cwt. Merino lambs sold from $150 to $213/head.
Mutton numbers lifted though quality was reduced from the previous sales. There was a larger percentage of light plain sheep
penned along with the few better lines. Prices eased $5 with Merino ewes selling from $104 to $158/head. Crossbreds ranged
from $97 to $176 and Merino wethers sold from $112 to $175/head.
