Numbers eased slightly this sale, with mutton showing the decrease. Lamb quality continues to be very mixed, with some good
runs of supplementary fed finished lambs offered, along with the plainer drier types. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs made
up the majority of the yarding. The usual buyers were present and competing in a fairly steady market, that fluctuated
depending on quality offered.
There was 6,150 new season lambs penned and quality was mixed. Prices eased slightly with trade weights making from $155 to
$215/head. Old light lambs averaged $132/head. Trade weights held firm to $3 easier, with prices making from $142 to
$214/head. Heavy and extra heavy weights were firm to $3/head dearer. Heavy lambs up to 26kg sold from $196 to $248/head.
Those over 26kg sold from $240, with two lambs receiving a top price of $300.60/head. Carcase prices averaged from 814c to
897c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers decreased and quality declined. There was a larger percentage of light plain sheep penned and prices were firm
to $7/head easier. Merino ewes sold from $102 to $180/head. Crossbreds received from $95 to $177, with Merino wethers
making from $80 to $155/head.
