Numbers lifted this sale with lambs showing the biggest increase. Lamb quality was very mixed and reduced from the previous
sales with fewer well finished pens offered. There was fewer heavy and extra heavy weight lambs with trade weights making up
the majority yarded. The usual buyers were present and competing in a market that lacked the buoyancy of previous weeks and
fluctuated with the quality offered.
There were 9,400 new season lambs penned with most well presented finished lambs. Prices held firm with light weights selling
from $144 to $180/head. Trade lambs received from $160 to $231/head. Carcase prices averaged from 954c to 989c/kg cwt. Old
light lambs sold from $138 to $168/head. Trade weights were fairly steady to receive from $158 to $200/head. Heavy and extra
heavy weight lambs were firm to $4/head better. Those up to 26kg cwt sold from $220 to $256 and those over 26kg cwt
received from $277 to $315/head. Carcase prices averaged from 860c to 940c/kg cwt.
Mutton quality was very mixed and prices fluctuated accordingly. Merino ewes sold from $96 to $179/head. Crossbreds received
from $94 to $173/head. Dorper ewes sold from $82 to $164/head. Merino wethers ranged in price from $109 to $176/head.
