Numbers remained steady this sale, though quality continues to be very mixed as the dry weather continues. There was 7,200
head of new season lambs penned, with both well finished and plainer types presented. The usual buyers were present and
competing in a dearer market.
New season lambs were $2 to $3/head dearer. Light weights sold from $135 to $164/head. Trade weights varied in price making
from $151 to $210/head and carcase prices averaged from 814c to 862c/kg cwt. Old light lambs averaged $138/head. Trade
weights were firm to $4 better to make from $143 to $190/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were $6/head better and more, depending on quality. Heavy lambs up to 26kg sold from
$199 to $236/head. Those over 26kg made from $240 to $266/head.
Mutton numbers comprised mostly Merinos and quality was similar to that of the previous sale. Prices showed a dearer trend,
with Merino ewes making from $102 to $178/head. Crossbreds received from $100 to $195 and Dorper ewes sold from $94 to
$148/head. Merino wethers sold from $91 to $154/head.
