Numbers dropped this sale with both lamb and mutton showing the decrease. There was 4,650 new season lambs penned and
quality was similar to that of previous sales with an increasing percentage of lambs showing signs of dryness. Most of the usual
buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
New season lambs lifted $5 to $8, while light lambs sold from $130 to $136/head. Trade weight lambs received from $139 to
$180/head. Heavy lambs sold from $166 to $188 with extra heavy weights ranging from $180 to $209/head. Carcase prices
averaged from 684c to 737c/kg. Old light lambs averaged $129/head. Trade weights were $5 to $8 better to receive from $120
to $175/head. Heavy lambs sold from $165 to $188 and extra heavies ranged in price from $187 to $230/head.
Mutton numbers were made up of mostly Merinos and quality was very mixed. Prices lifted with Merino ewes selling from $101 to
$176/head. Crossbred ewes sold from $105 to $156 with Dorper ewes receiving from $101 to $136/head. Merino wethers sold
from $106 to $124/head.
