Numbers jumped this sale with both lamb and mutton showing the increase. Lamb quality was similar to that of previous sales
with some good lines of supplementary fed finished lambs offered along with the plainer secondary lines. Most of the usual
buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
There was 2,500 new season lambs penned and prices held fairly steady. Trade weights sold from $142 to $176/head. Restockers
were active on the lighter store types paying from $72 to $142/head. Old light lambs lifted $8 selling from $125 to $146/head.
Trade weights were $5 to $7 better with prices ranging from $144 to $180/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were firm to $5/head better. Heavy lambs sold from $174 to $194 with extra heavies
receiving from $187 to $232/head. Carcase prices averaged from 733c to 768c/kg.
Mutton numbers lifted and were made up of mostly mixed quality Merinos. Prices were stronger with Merino ewes selling from
$96 to $158/head. Crossbred ewes sold from $93 to $150 and Merino wethers ranged in price from $101 to $154/head.
