FORBES CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT 01/07/24

Numbers remained similar to last week with 925 cattle yarded. Quality was mixed with light cattle suitable for feeders and restockers in good supply along with prime yearlings and grown cattle. There was also a good supply of heavy prime cows on offer. All the regular buyers were present.

Young cattle to the trade were firm to dearer, prime yearling steers sold from 310c to 351c while prime yearling heifers were up to 20c dearer, 270c to 359c/kg. Feeder steers dropped 10c, 290c to 370c and feeder heifers sold 4c dearer, 260c to 321c/kg.

Prime grown steers were considerably dearer to last week selling from 250c to 328c while prime grown heifers were 10c cheaper, 230c to 324c/kg. Cows lifted 30c, 2 and 3 scores sold from 120c to 245c and heavy prime cows, 220c to 258c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 220c/kg.
