Numbers rose by 1395 for a yarding of 2320 cattle. The increase in numbers, quality and buying power saw strong competition and was reflected with strong gains. There was a good supply of heavy prime cattle and cows on offer and prices lifted considerably. All the regular buyers were present along with additional processors.
Young cattle to the trade were up to 20c dearer, prime yearling steers sold from 320c to 383c and yearling heifers, 250c to 353c/kg. Feeder steers gained 13c selling from 280c to 403c, and feeder heifers were firm to dearer, 260c to 320c/kg.
Prime grown cattle saw large gains, heavy steers sold from 274c to 350c and heavy heifers, 280c to 366c/kg. Cows also lifted considerably selling up to 40c dearer, 2 and 3 scores sold from 205c to 275c and heavy prime cows, 266c to 305c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 252c/kg.
