A full field of winter buyers were at the rail. Quality across all classes was fair to good, with increased numbers of grassy yearlings needing more finish. The market was dearer in places, rolling off the back of strong feedlot competition. Prices gains were common for heavy export stock and some feeder cattle.
The smaller supply of vealers ranged from 270c to 340c/kg. There were some excellent trade steers and heifers in the offering and made from 280c to 345c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers gained 5c to 6c due to improved quality and more buyer participation. Feeder heifers sold to fluctuating price trends with prices driven by breed and fat cover. He bulk the feeder heifers ranged from 275c to 32c/kg.
In the export market competition increased with several domestic processors competing against each other along with some feed lot competition. Heavy steers sold 6c to 7c dearer making from 300c to 342/kg. Bullocks sold to a smaller group of buyers with prices mostly unchanged selling at 280c to 320c/kg. There was 350 cows along with 80 red tag middle aged cows which sold to a restocker for 255c/kg. Heavy cows sold from 210c to 245c/kg Leaner grades made from 165c to 210c/kg. Heavy bulls sold at varying prices trends due to age and fat cover the bulk making from 200c to 240c/kg.
