FORBES CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT 25/05/2026

Numbers lifted slightly this sale with agents yarding 1158 head. Quality was improved with an excellent run of feeder cattle offered and fewer secondary types. The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.

Yearling steers lifted 10 to 20c/kg with middle and heavyweights to feed selling from 473 to 547c/kg. The few better finished types to processors sold from 483 to 492c/kg. The heifer portion was also 8 to 15c/kg dearer. Feeders paid from 468 to 507c/kg with those to processors receiving from 450 to 490c/kg.

Heavy steers and bullocks reached 483c/kg. Grown heifers sold from 430 to 488c/kg. Cows also showed improvement jumping 20 to 30c/kg. Heavy finished cows sold from 375c to 400c/kg while the plainer types received from 355c to 388c/kg. The best heavy bulls reached 421c/kg.
