The first sale of the year saw agents yard 26200 head. There was 19900 lambs penned and quality was improved from the previous sale. There was some excellent aline of well finished lambs available along with the plainer types. Most of the usual buyers were present and competing in a market that held fairly steady to the previous sale.

Trade weight lambs 20-24kg sold from $225 to $288/head. Heavy lambs to 26kg ranged in price from $282 to $312/head. Extra heavyweights sold from $299 to $390/head. Carcase prices averaged from 1067 to 1153c/kg.

There was 6300 mutton penned and Merinos made up the majority. Quality was mixed with Merinos ewes selling from $160 to $315/hd. Crossbreds received from $186 to $298/head. Dorper ewes reached $272/head.
