Young lambs made up half of the fair to good quality yarding, with mostly medium to heavy trade weights penned. Very few export grades were yarded, with merino lambs also back in numbers.
Young lambs met solid competition, despite the absence of one buyer, though buyers were very selective of any showing too much condition. Trade young lambs sold $1.00 to $2.00 dearer, with little change in the extra heavy grades.
The opposite trend was evident for old lambs, with much weaker demand for all weights. Trade lambs were $2.00 to $4.00 cheaper, with a limited offering of export weights back $2.00 to $5.00.
Restockers are still active on a fair selection of store lambs at slightly dearer rates.
The sheep market saw the first cheaper trend for some time, with the continuing increased numbers outweighing demand. The fair quality yarding saw the light grades $2.00 to $3.00 cheaper, with the medium and heavy sheep back $4.00 to $6.00.
