Lamb numbers lifted slightly and the quality remains similar. There were big lines of heavy and extra heavy lambs and there was more weight in the top end of the extra heavy weights. There were good numbers of very good neatly shorn trade weights along with the longer skinned and secondary trade lambs and the usual lighter runs of Dorpers and Merinos. The market sold to stronger trends, lifting $3 to $6 on the trades and $7 on Merino trade lambs. Heavy and extra heavy lambs were $5 to $6 dearer.
The 2 score processing lambs up to 20kg went against the dearer trend easing $10 to $12/head and selling between $82 and $130/head. The trade lambs 20 to 24kg sold from $117 to $177/head and while the secondary lambs averaged 600c and up the better lambs averaged 690c to 740c/kg. Heavy lambs to 26kg ranged from $170 to $189 and lambs to 30kg sold from $187 to $226/head. Extra heavy weights reached $255/head. Heavy and extra heavy weights averaged 680c to 700c/kg cwt. Merino trade lambs sold from $108 to $170 and heavy weights reached $190/head. Best priced hogget reached $168/head.
Mutton numbers lifted and the quality improved with most mutton well covered and either medium or heavy weights. Prices lifted $10 to $20/head. Medium weight ewes sold from $63 to $117/head heavy crossbreds reached $147 and Merino ewes $138/head. There were a lot of sales between 350c and 400c/kg cwt.
