FORBES SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT 14/07/2026

Numbers jumped this sale with agents yarding 32320 head. There was 24470 lambs penned and quality was mixed but fair. There were some good lines of well finished trade and export lambs available along with the secondary types. The usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market.

Lambs slipped $6 to $8/head with trade weight selling from $255 to $313/head. Heavy lambs to 26kg sold from $305 to $338/head. Extra heavyweights ranged in price from $325 to $425/head. Carcase prices averaged from 1056 to 1257c/kg. The best heavy hoggets reached $273/head.

There was 7850 mutton penned with quality similar to that of previous sales. Prices were also $6 to $8 easier and varied dependent on quality. Merino ewes sold from $200 to $330/head. Crossbred ewes ranged from $180 to $278/head with Dorper ewes receiving from $190 to $310/head.
