FORBES SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT 28/01/25

Total Yarding : 24500

Numbers fell this sale with agents yarding 24500 head. There was 17450 lambs penned and quality was similar to that of previous sales. There were good numbers of finished lambs offered along with the plainer types. The usual buyers were present and competing in a fairly steady market that did fluctuate with quality.

Trad weight lambs held steady with 20-24 kg selling from $147 to $210/head. Heavy lambs to 26kg were firm to $2 better ranging from $192 to $224/head. Extra heavyweights received from $210 to $284/head. Carcase prices averaged 774c to 820c/kg.

Mutton numbers were made up of mostly Merinos and quality was very mixed. Prices eased with Merino ewes selling from $65 to $153/head. Crossbreds sold from $68 to $176 and Dorper ewes reached $130/head. Merino wethers received from $77 to $140/head.
